Has anyone experience of Garvan smoke alarms? I've installed 4 hardwired Garvan alarms, with battery backup - model SFX BA22 8RT, manufacture date is week 10 2006. About once a fortnight one of the alarms goes off. I've disconnected the interconnect and now found that its all the alarms generating false triggers, not just one.
So one alarm every 8 weeks means we get an alarm every 2 weeks averall. Normally in the middle of the night! I've checked for dust through the loft hole, batteries. Shouldn't be interference as its in the middle of the night so nothing else is being used.
I'm a tad sleepless now. On the point of throwing them all away ( about 6 months old ) but thought i'd ask here first. These crop up in various places as own label but they have no uk office re support; they rely on the distributor to have the nous which majority won't/customer giving up.
Their website defaults to Hong Kong Trade development council, so clearly they don't want to speak to customers/monitor newsboards such as here! Restrict yourself to makes with a website that ends.co.uk.
Eg etc To borrow from John Ruskin Its unwise to pay too much, but its worse to pay too little When you pay too much, you loose a little money-thats all. When you pay too little you sometimes lose everything because the thing you bought is incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot-it cant be done.
If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is wise to add something for the risk. And if you to do that, you will have enough to pay for something better. Has anyone experience of Garvan smoke alarms?
